Port 1 was lit up with my ethernet connection to my office. I moved that cable to port 2 and tried connecting the base station to port 1. No joy. So I finally gave up trying to plug the base station into the router directly. I took the base station up to my office, where my ethernet connection to my router port 1 is working.
